Philip Newlyn is a Chartered Accountant
with nearly 30 years experience in the financial
sector. He is a member of the ICEAW.
Philip's career started in 1981 at Gane Jackson
Scott (formerly Train Scott) where he qualified
as a Chartered Accountant while articled to them
in July 1984.
In 1986 Philip joined the London
branch of Banque Francaise du Commerce Exterieur
as Branch Accountant. Philip then transferred to
the Corporate Lending team in 1988 managing a loan
portfolio which included management buy-outs and
major construction projects. In 1993, Philip became
the branch Internal Controller.
In July 1994, Philip joined the
London branch of Chemical Futures & Options,
Inc. (“CF&O”),
a division of Chemical Banking Corporation, initially
as Accounting, Finance & Compliance Manager.
CF&O
were a futures and options clearing broker, whose
business was mostly cleared on LIFFE but covered
other global futures and options markets. During
his time there Philip rose to the position of Vice
President with the Chase Manhattan Banking Corporation
and joint operational head of CF&O in London. In
this period CF&O formed a joint
venture with a LIFFE floor broker and merged with
the futures & options business of the Chase
Manhattan bank when the Chase/Chemical merger occurred.
In June 1999, Philip transferred
to the Fixed Income division of the Investment
Bank of Chase Manhattan Bank in London, assuming
the role of Business Manager with primary responsibility
for new product development. With the
merger of Chase Manhattan Bank and JPMorgan in
2001 Philip became a Chief Financial Officer covering
the Emerging Markets division and subsequently
the Interest Rates Derivatives division. His
last major role was leading the MIS team in London
reporting to the European Chief Financial Officer.
Joined the Besso Group in April 2006
as Chief Financial Officer.
